Building on our September 2022 Lunch & Learn on Trust in Natural Resource Management, please join us at the next FbD Lunch & Learn on Thursday, September 7th, 2023  from 12pm – 1pm where we’ll hear from Jennifer Arnold, founder of Reciprocity Consulting LLC & Bob “Bobby” Whitener, Co-owner of the Whitener Group on naming, owning and working with power dynamics in collaborative partnerships in the natural resource management field. At the September 2022 Lunch & Learn meeting, we hosted Marc Stern, Professor in Virginia Tech’s Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation Department, and Fred Likkel, Executive Director of Whatcom Family Farmers, to discuss trust building in natural resource management. The webinar discussed the concept of “trust ecology,” describing a framework in which four types of trust (dispositional, rational, affinitive, and systems based) must be developed and nurtured to enhance relationships of natural resource managers across partnerships. In order to apply the trust ecology framework, it’s critically important to think about power dynamics at the individual and organizational level, and this next webinar on Trust & Power Dynamics will help dive into that element of building trust.

View and add the event to your calendar, and share the full webinar description at the Events Calendar on the FbD Website here. The FbD Lunch & Learn Series is open to everyone.

The topics of the monthly Lunch & Learn Series are informed by the Floodplains by Design network of practitioners and partners. If you would like to explore some of the topics and themes that emerged from our 2023 Input Gathering, you can view the themes here.
