DESCRIPTION:Following severe flooding in Whatcom County\, homeowners were eligible for public assistance to elevate or repair their homes\, but reimbursement-based structure of recovery grants created a major barrier: residents were expected to front the cost of the repairs before being paid back. This L&L will feature Peoples Bank\, Whatcom Community Foundation\, and Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group in a facilitated conversation about how local partners are working together to create a flexible financing approach that helps homeowners move forward.
